Dear Friends:

Thank you for believing in our mission to support survivor leaders, wellness and freedom. Here at Karana Rising, we believe every supporter is a part of our community.

Every single dollar we raise goes directly to support the survivors on our team and the survivors we serve and advocate for in our wellness and advocacy efforts. We critically need to raise $30,000 to ensure we can continue our work in survivor advocacy and direct care. Can you join us with a contribution today?

This includes $2,000 to attend next Wednesday’s October 27th hearing for incarcerated survivor leader, Tiffany Simpson, whose Change.org petition now has 33,000 signatures and is growing! In January, we will be in Texas for the trials of three incarcerated survivor trials for Jessica, Jordan and Alana. Yesterday, we just admitted a new incarcerated teen girl in Georgia to our survivor justice and care program and four more survivors have reached out this week alone. We are community-minded and aim to stay with friends and family (hi Aunt Betty Lou) during trial but we do need this support.

Our survivor advocacy is vital. We could see teen survivors being freed or spending their lives in prison. We could see companies that profit off exploitation (hi OnlyFans, looking at you!) get off free or be held accountable by the very survivors they harmed. Our global virtual community of survivors is growing through our wellness workshops, mentoring and advocacy training.

We can create the changes needed to ensure survivors are believed, protected and elevated to become the leaders they were meant to be.

So, we wanted to share very honestly what it takes for us to support incarcerated survivors here. We spend about 120 hours a month in direct care for survivors, support to their parents and families, testimony and expert witness support and developing survivor-led public advocacy. We also provide direct financial assistance to survivors who are a part of our advocacy and care community. We need $10,000 a month to fully operate.

Our vision is a global survivor justice reform where survivors are building a movement for survivor justice, expanding partnerships for wellness and care for all survivors, and working toward a policy response that is survivor-led and soundly informed by expert allies.

Our impact will change how survivors experience the justice system and ensure survivors are safe from the injustice of arrest and can truly reach their fullest potential in life.

We need your help to do this, though.

Please join us with a contribution, if you can, and let’s truly let survivors lead the change we need to see so all survivors are free. You may also reach out directly to us to see how you can use your voice and time to support survivors.

With gratitude,

Andrea, Fecha, Liz, Christabelle, Ashley, Leslie, Snezana, and Tiffany
